Marietta High School Cross Country Coaches

Dale Leeper, Varsity Coach

Dale begins his 18th year with the Marietta High School and Marietta Middle School cross country program.  He practices law in Marietta with TheisenBrock, LPA.  A former competitive runner, Dale and his wife Jean are parents of two children, Kurt and Brooke, both of whom ran for Marietta and continue to enjoy running as adults.

 

Russell Garrison, Assistant Varsity Coach

Russ is in his fourth year assisting the Marietta High School and Middle School Cross Country Programs.  He is retired from DuPont and involved in several family owned business.  He and his wife Jennifer have 3 children.  Emily and Sam graduated from Marietta High School and participated in Track and Cross Country during their High School careers.  Max is currently in High School and participating in Cross Country and track.  Russ has run recreationally and in road races over the past 30+ years. 

 

Amanda Mercer, Assistant Coach

Amanda Mercer is a 2-year member of the cross country coaching staff.  She is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and SPINNING® Instructor.  Amanda attended Grove City College where she majored in Exercise Science.  Amanda has taught high school biology and earth science and coached middle school girls basketball.  She is a runner and triathlete and has led several successful Couch to 5k programs.  She enjoys cooking, a good core workout, and anything active.  Amanda lives in Marietta with her husband Shawn.
